MINUTES OF THE 812 REGULAR MEETING
LIVONIA TRAFFIC COMMISSION
thth
The 812 Regular meeting of the Livonia Traffic Commission was held in the 5 Floor Gallery of City Hall
on June 13, 2024; it was called to order by Chairperson Jim Policelli at 7:32 p.m.
PRESENT: Jim Policelli, John Katers, James Keller, Gordon St. John, Sgt. Paul Walters of the LPD
Traffic Bureau, City Engineer Todd Zilincik
ABSENT: Rebekah Farabaugh, Yara Racine, Tom Wrenbeck,
VISITORS: Tim Kilroy
Agenda Item 1:
The minutes from the May 9, 2024 meeting were reviewed.
A motion was made by Commissioner Katers, supported by Chairperson Policelli, to approve the May 9,
2024 minutes as written. It was voted upon unanimously that,
20-392 RESOLVED, the minutes from the May 9, 2024 were
approved as written
Agenda Item 2: Proposed Traffic Signal
Resident Tim Kilroy visited the Commission meeting to gain more information on a proposed traffic signal
at Farmington Road and Gable Street. The new signal is part of a proposed redevelopment at the site of
the former K-Mart building located at Seven Mile Road and Farmington. Tim was concerned about the
need for the signal, as well as the parameters that the light may or may not have to meet to be installed.
After discussion, due to this being a pending matter for the developer and both roads in the intersection
being Wayne County roads, the County would have final say on such an installation. The
Commissioners directed Tim to visit the City Council and Planning Commission meetings for more
information.
Agenda Item 3: Request for Deer Crossing Sign
A “Deer Crossing” sign request was made for 7 Mile Road between Farmington and Merriman Roads.
The area is heavily wooded and deer are abundant. Due to these roads being Wayne County Roads,
the Commission does not have any authority over placement of a sign. No further action was taken.
Updates and Discussion
The Traffic Commission webpage within the City of Livonia website has an explanation regarding speed
bumps/humps. It was agreed that the language stated on the website is sufficient and does not need to
be changed at this time.
th
The 9 Annual Ice Cream Social commenced at the Recreation Center. Chairman Policelli noted that a
couple residents mentioned speeding problems on Stark between Hines Drive and Plymouth Road. Sgt.
Walters noted that the area is actively enforced with officers are available.

LIVONIA TRAFFIC COMMISSION CONTINUED
Updates and Discussion Cont.
The Commission is still hoping to discuss and review striping projects where striping of the pavement
would be effective in calming or alleviating speeders.
The Livonia Police Department’s Traffic Bureau recommended a “No U Turn” sign at Middle Belt, north of
Schoolcraft, ideally to be located at the northwest corner of the entrance to the Bob Evans restaurant. It
was mentioned that there are a lot of vehicles using the private property to complete turns. Wayne
County would ultimately be responsible for the approval and installation of such signage.
Motion to Adjourn – Motion to adjourn at 8:45 p.m. was made by Commissioner Katers, with support
from Commissioner Keller, with no objections
