Agenda Item 2: Request for Pedestrian Crossing Improvements at Lyndon and Beatrice A Resident submitted an email about a traffic incident on Pembroke Ave. A vehicle entered the wrong way going westbound on eastbound Pembroke from Newburgh Road and continued all the way to the post office entrance on Pembroke. The Resident suggested additional signage may help in preventing this from happening since there are currently no wrong-way signs on eastbound Pembroke at Newburgh Road. After a discussion about the situation and an in-person inspection of this intersection, it was determined that the issue with this intersection is an overgrown pine tree/bush on the northeast corner of Pembroke and Newburgh Road that obstructs the vision of the westbound lane of Pembroke of a vehicle driving southbound on Newburgh Road. After further discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner Drzewicki and seconded by Commissioner Katers and unanimously approved that: 26-427 RESOLVED, a request will be made to the Livonia Public Works Department by the City Engineer, Todd Zilincik, to trim the pine tree/bush located at the northeast corner of Pembroke and Newburgh Road so at a minimum it is trimmed back to the edge of the city easement.
