HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL MINUTES 1992-10-12 SPECIAL 27244 MINUTES OF THE TWO HUNDRED TWENTY-FIYTH SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA Pursuant to the provisions of Section 8, Chapter 14 of the City Charter, the above meeting was held October 12, 1992 at the City Hall, 33000 Civic Center Drive, Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order by the President of the Council at approximately 7:43 p.m. Roll was called with the following result: Present: Michael P. McGee*, Dale A. Jurcisin, Gerald Taylor, Ron Ochala, Fernon P. Feenstra, Sean P. Kavanagh, and Laura M. Toy. Absent: None. (*arrived at 7:44 p.m. ) Elected and appointed officials present: Robert D. Bennett, Mayor; Harry Tatigian, City Attorney; Joan McCotter, City Clerk; Michael Deller, Chief Librarian; Jack Engebretson, Planning Commission; Robert Alanskas, Planning Commission; John Nagy, City Planner; Edith Davis, ibm Personnel Director; Yvonne Schanz, Library Commission; Donald E. Friedrichs, Library Commission; Gary Valuet, Deputy Police Chief; David N. Preston, Finance Director; Yvonne Lillibridge, Local 192 President; and Robert J. Beckley, Director of Public Works No one spoke during the audience communication portion at the beginning of the meeting. On a motion by Ochala, seconded by Kavanagh, and unanimously adopted, it was: #756-92 RESOLVED, that the Council does hereby determine to discharge from the Finance and Insurance Committee the subject of Council Resolution 727-92, which relates to the Civil Service Commission recommendation that the Council concur in a proposed three-year contract to be entered into by and betweep the City of Livonia and the Police Officers Association of Michigan in behalf of its affiliate, the Livonia Police Officers Association, for the period December 1, 1991 through November 30, 1994, and that the necessary amendments to the Retirement Plan Ordinance, the Compensation Plan and changes in certain benefits as required to effectuate this agreement be approved 27245 On a motion by Taylor, seconded by Jurcisin, and unanimously Ladopted, it was: 11757-92 RESOLVED, that having considered a letter from the Personnel Director and the Director of Labor Relations, dated September 11, 1992, approved by the Director of Finance and approved for submission by the Mayor, and which transmits a resolution adopted by the Civil Service Commission on September 10, 1992, wherein the Commission recommends that the Council concur in a proposed three-year contract to be entered into by and between the City of Livonia and the Police Officers Association of Michigan in behalf of its affiliate, the Livonia Police Officers Association, for the period December 1, 1991 through November 30, 1994, and that the necessary amendments to the Retirement Plan Ordinance, the Compensation Plan and changes in certain benefits as required to effectuate this agreement be approved, the Council does hereby determine to approve of and concur in the aforesaid action; and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to affix their signatures to the aforesaid contract for and on behalf of the City of Livonia and to do all things necessary or incidental to the full performance of this resolution. Ellis Ehrstin, 14329 Hubbell, asked for a brief explanation of 1.1 the L.P.O.A. contract during the audience communication portion of the meeting. On a motion by Feenstra, seconded by Jurcisin, and unanimously adopted, this 225th Special Meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia was duly adjourned at 7:50 p.m. , October 12, 1992. J.
