HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL MINUTES 1992-01-06 SPECIAL (2) 26797 MINUTES OF THE TWO HUNDRED TWENTY FIRST SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA Pursuant to the provisions of Section 8, Chapter 14 of the City Charter, the above meeting was held January 6, 1992 at the City Hall, 33000 Civic Center Drive, Livonia, Michigan and was called to order by the Vice President of the Council at approximately 7:19 P M. Roll was called with the following result: Present: Laura Toy, Gerald Taylor, Dale Jurcisin, Ron Ochala and Fernon P. Feenstra Absent None. Elected and appointed officials present. Robert D. Bennett, Mayor; Harry Tatigian, City Attorney; Joan McCotter, City Clerk; John Nagy, Planning Director; Raul Galindo, City Engineer; Lee B. Grieve, Chief of Police; Robert R. Bishop, City Treasurer, Robert Beckley, Director of Public Works; Suzanne Wisler, Director of Community Resources and David N. Preston, Director of Finance; Michael Reiser, Facility Maintenance Supervisor and A. Michael Deller, City Librarian The following resolution was offered by Councilman Feenstra: RESOLVED, that the Council determines to proceed with electing a Chair for this meeting Vice President Jurcision stated that the motion was out of Order. Councilman Feenstra appealed the ruling of the Chair There was no vote taken as to sustain or reject. Councilman Taylor left the podium at at 7:25 P M Vice President Jurcisin passed the gavel to Councilman Feenstra at 7:27 P.M. , and Vice President Jurcisin left the podium. The following resolution was offered by Councilman Ochala #1-92 RESOLVED, that Laura Toy be declared to be President of the Council for a one year period effective January 1, 1992 through December 31, 1992 26798 loo A roll call vote was taken on the resolution offered by Councilman Ochala with the following result: AYES: Toy, Ochala and Feenstra. NAYS None Councilman Feenstra declared the resolution adopted President Toy relinquished the Chair to Councilman Feenstra for the balance of the meeting The following resolution was offered by President Toy #t2-92 RESOLVED, that Ron Ochala be declared to be Vice President of the Council for a one year period from January 1, 1992 through December 31, 1992 A roll call vote was taken on the resolution offered by President Toy with the following result las AYES Toy, Ochala and Feenstra NAYS: None. Councilman Feenstra declared the resolution adopted The following resolution was offered by President Toy: #3-92 RESOLVED, that Ron Ochala be declared to be President of the Council for a one year period effective January 1, 1993 through December 31, 1993 A roll call vote was taken on the resolution offered by President Toy with the following result AYES Toy, Ochala and Feenstra NAYS None Councilman Feenstra declared the resolution adopted. The following resolution was offered by Vice President Ochala: #4-92 RESOLVED, that Laura Toy be declared Vice President of the Council for a one year period from January 1, 1993 through December 31, 1993 A roll call vote was taken on the resolution offered by Vice President Ochala with the following result 26799 lbw AYES: Toy, Ochala and Feenstra NAYS None Councilman Feenstra declared the resolution adopted. Councilwoman Toy accepted the results of the election and the Presidency of the Council The following resolution was offered by Council President Toy #5-92 RESOLVED, that Fernon P Feenstra be the member of the Council appointed to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Employment Retirement System A roll call vote was taken on the resolution offered by President Toy with the following result AYES Feenstra, Toy and Ochala NAYS None lbw Councilman Feenstra declared the resolution adopted President Toy then requested of the Chair that action with respect to the balance of the items appearing on the 221st Special Meeting Agenda be deferred to a later date.
