MINUTES OF THE TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTEENTH SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 8, Chapter 14 of the City Charter,
the above meeting was held July 22, 1991 at the City Hall, 33000 Civic Center Drive,
Livonia, Michigan and was called to order by the Vice President of the Council at
approximately 7 17 P M. Roll was called with the following result: Present: Gerald
Taylor, Dale Jurcisin, Fernon P. Feenstra and Robert R. Bishop. Absent: Ron Ochala
and Laura Toy (representing the City in another capacity) and Joan McCotter.
Elected and appointed officials present: Robert F. Nash, City Clerk;
George Weible, Assistant City Attorney; Raul Galindo, City Engineer and H Shane,
Assistant Planning Director.
On a motion by Councilman Bishop and seconded by Councilman Taylor, it was:
#580-91 RESOLVED, that the Council does hereby discharge the
Streets, Roads and Plats Committee from consideration of the
proposed addition to the Six Mile relief sewer contract, which
proposed that the south service drive of Six Mile in front of
Burton Hollow Subdivision be replaced with 18 1/2 ft wide
concrete.
A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result:
AYES: Taylor, Jurcisin and Bishop.
NAYS: Feenstra
The Vice President declared the resolution adopted.
Councilman Feenstra offered a resolution referring the matter to the
Committee of the Whole, to enable residents to discuss the issue and impact of
the project Resolution died for lack of support.
On a motion by Councilman Bishop and seconded by Councilman Taylor, it was:
#581-91 RESOLVED, that having considered the report and
recommendation of the City Engineer and the Director of
Public Works dated May 22, 1991, which bears the signature
of the Finance Director, is approved by the City Attorney,
and is approved for submission by the Mayor, with regard to
a request from certain residents of the Burton Hollow
Subdivision that at the time the south service drive of
Six Mile Road is replaced in connection with the construction

of the Six Mile relief sewer from Farmington Road to Levan
Road, that the said service drive be widened to 18-1/2 feet
with curbs on both sides, the estimated cost of which widening
project has received the approval of Wayne County, THE COUNCIL
DOES HEREBY DETERMINE AS FOLLOWS:
1. To authorize the design, construction, operation and maintenance
at no expense to Wayne County of the curb and gutter section
located along the north edge of the south service drive of Six
Mile Road between Wayne Road and Farmington Road;
2. To indemnify, save harmless, and defend Wayne County, the
Wayne County Department of Public Services, its officials,
agents, and employees against any and all claims, suits and
judgments of every name and description arising out of the
design, construction, operation or maintenance of the curb and
gutter section located along the north edge of the south service
drive of Six Mile Road between Wayne Road and Farmington Road in
the City of Livonia; such responsibility of the City shall not
be construed as a liability for damage caused by or resulting
from the sole negligence of the County, its agents or its
employees;
3 To authorize Raul A. Galindo, City Engineer, to sign the right-
of-way occupation permit for the City of Livonia;
Ihm 4 To authorize the expenditure of $600.00 to cover Wayne County
permit review and inspection fees;
5 To authorize a change order in the amount of $82,746.56 to
Ric-Man Construction Company; and
6 To authorize an expenditure in the amount of $83,346.56 from
the Michigan Transportation Fund Local Road Account.
A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result:
AYES: Taylor, Jurcisin and Bishop.
NAYS: Feenstra
The Vice President declared the resolution adopted.
President McCotter arrived at 7:21 P.M.
On a motion by Councilman Bishop and seconded by Councilman Taylor, and
unanimously adopted, this 215th Special Meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia
was duly adjourned at 7:22 P.M , July 22, 1991
