HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL MINUTES 1984-03-28 SPECIAL 20812 MINUTES OF THE ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY—NINTH SPECIAL MEETING Imo OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA Pursuant to the provisions of Section 8, Chapter 14 of the City Charter, the above meeting was held March 28, 1984, at the City Hall , 33000 Civic Center Drive, Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order by the President of the Council at approximately 10 45 p m Roll was called with the following result: Present Robert R. Bishop, Robert E. McCann, Fernon P. Feenstra, Gerald Taylor, Robert D. Bennett, and Peter A. Ventura. Absent: Alice Gundersen. Elected and appointed officials present: Robert F. Nash, City Clerk, Patricia Miencier, Deputy City Clerk, Carol Hustoles, Assistant City Attorney, and John J. Nagy, Planning Director. On a motion by Councilman McCann, seconded by Councilman Ventura, it was #224-84 WHEREAS, there is a need to encourage the location and expansion of industrial enterprises in the City through the granting of property tax relief under the Plant Rehabilitation and Industrial Development Act, Act 198, P.A. 1974, as amended (the "Act") , and WHEREAS, the City has been advised that CBS/Fox Company (the "Company") , a New York partnership, proposes to acquire, develop and construct facilities consisting of land, buildings and equipment (the "Project") in the City, at the Northeast corner of 7 Mile Road and Haggerty Road in the City, and WHEREAS, pursuant to the Act, this City Council has the authority to establish "industrial development districts" within the boundaries of the City, and WHEREAS, the Company has requested this City Council to exercise its initiative to establish an "industrial development district" for the project, more particularly described in Exhibit A attached hereto, and WHEREAS, on March 28, 1984, in the City Hall , a public hearing was held on the question of the establishment of said industrial development district, 20813 at which time the Company, the owner of the property within the proposed district, and any other resident or taxpayer of the City had an opportunity to be heard, and WHEREAS, written notice of this public hearing was given by certified mail to the owner of the property within the proposed district, and published in the Livonia Observer on March 15, 1984. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the real property referred to above and more particularly described in Exhibit A attached hereto is established as an industrial development district for purposes of Act 198 of the Public Acts of 1974, as amended, and be it futher RESOLVED, that the said industrial development district is hereby designated as City of Livonia Industrial Development District No 13 A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result AYES• McCann, Feenstra, Taylor, Bennett, Ventura, Bishop NAYS None By Councilman Taylor, seconded by Councilman Bennett, and unanimously adopted, this 189th Special Meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia was duly adjourned at 10.50 p m. , March 28, 1984.
