Present: Ralph Bakewell, Kathy Bilger, Sue Daniel, Kathy Johnson-Bartshe and Kathie Glynn Absent:.Jim Kline and Don Knapp Other: Linda Wiacek Correspondence reviewed. A new MHPN Resource Directory has amv_ed. The Michigan State History Conference will be held m Bay City Sept. 25-27 Minutes of May 6,2015 Approved as written New Business: The State of the City Address will be held Wed. Sept. 16 and all are invited to attend. Kathie Glynn moved and Kathy Bilger seconded a motion to allocate up to $175 (7 tickets) for the luncheon. Motion passed unanimously Certified Local Government: the requirement&the process was discussed and it was decided to look into the matter further Old Business: 34235 W. Seven Mile Road. The shrubbery m front on the house was removed several weeks ago Work has now begun on the house itself: foundation work and chimney repomtmg. The sunroom foundation is also being redone. Kathy Johnson-Bartshe stopped&talked with Mr Zmuda and also took several pictures of the work m progress. 14Current Issues: OZ 'C `� 6 i ,.�SiOZ 2015 Cemetery Walk: The committee will meet August 10 at 12 30 David Carter has completed the designated headstone work in Livonia Center Cemetery(approx. $990), there is about$500 left to use. Sue Daniel moved and Kathy Bilger seconded a motion to use the remaining money on headstones at Livonia Center Motion passed unanimously Union/Briggs Six Mile. Doing continuing work on the property Kathy Bilger believes there is a strong possibility that it was a site involved in the Underground Railroad. Kathy would like the HPC to request a site visit in the near future. Livonia Center Cemetery Arch Repair The arch has been moved to Antieau's Welding & Fabricating. We are waiting to hear his evaluation of the arch and the cost of the repairs. Greenmead: Linda Wiacek reported. The Kelly Miller Circus will be held on the grounds Tues. August 11 The rear facade of the Alexander Blue House is being scraped and repainted. Highland Games were held Aug. 1 and was well attended. Flea Market is Sept. 13 Volunteers are welcome. There was a request to display pictures of historic properties m the lobby of City Hall, in the future. Trunk Sale: Kathy Bilger reported a little over$100 in sales from the books. Nankin Mills School A proposal has been submitted to City Council to approve a contract with Michael Kirk of Neumann-Smith for drawing up plans to move the school to Greenmead. Michael Kirk also submitted a proposal for restoration work on the Greenhouse. Northville Township Kathy Bilger reported that the Northville Township preservation group is seeking advice regarding writing their ordinance. Although previously advised to talk to the State Historic Preservation Office and their legal department, it was decided to invite them to our next meeting. Next meeting: Sept. 2, 2015 Next Voting Meeting: Nov 4 2015 (2015 Voting Meeting Schedule February, May, August, and November) Adjourned at 7.30 P M. Respectfully submitted Kathleen Glynn, Secretary Addendem Team TRB July 10, 2015 Kathy Johnson-Bartshe, Kathy Bilger, Kathie Glynn Sue Darnel & Linda Wiacek met informally with Christopher Ciccone. (Other members of the HPC were not available.) Chris explained that Team TRB is a volunteer group of veterans who do projects m their communities. One of these is clearing away weeds and overgrowth on or around veterans graves. The purpose of this meeting was to see if this project would be a good fit for Team TRB & Livoma's Historic Cemeteries. Linda welcomed Team TRB & their efforts to work in our historic cemeteries. She explained that any work done in Livoma's historic cemeteries are subject to approval of the Historic Preservation Commission. Kathy Johnson-Bartshe explained that any work on the headstones themselves was only done by David Carter Kathie Glynn explained that the headstones are fragile and that any work done around them must be done with caution in order not to damage them. Chris said that he needed to obtain the approval of the national group and then he would co- ordinate with Linda Wiacek&the HPC The meeting ended at 7 P M.
