MINUTES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-SECOND SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 8, Chapter 14 of the City Charter,
the above meeting was held July 24, 1978, at the City Hall, 33001 Five Mile Road,
Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order by the Chairman, Councilman Ventura, at
approximately 7:40 P. M. Roll was called with the following result: Present--
Peter A. Ventura, Jerry H. Brown, Robert R. Bishop, Jerry Raymond and Robert F. Nash.
Absent--Robert E. McCann and Robert D. Bennett.
Elected and appointed officials present: Frances S. Stem, Deputy City
Clerk, Harry C. Tatigian, City Attorney, Ronald Mardiros, City Assessor; James Miller,
Personnel Director; James H. Barton, Civil Service Department, and George T. Roumell,
Jr. , Labor Negotiator.
By Councilman Nash, seconded by Councilman Raymond, it was
#656-78 WHEREAS, the Act 312 arbitration between the City of Livonia and
the Livonia Fire Fighters Association has been concluded and the Act 312
arbitration panel therein has issued an opinion and orders dated July 14,
1978, and
WHEREAS, the Personnel Director has transmitted a communication
dated July 21, 1978, which bears the signature of the Finance Director and
is approved for submission by the Mayor, and which sets forth a resolution
adopted by the Civil Service Commission on July 20, 1978, wherein the
Commission recommends City Council concurrence in the implementation of
certain economic terms and conditions of the said arbitration, and
WHEREAS, the parties have negotiated certain changes in the
recently expired contract, and, that said negotiated changes and arbitra-
tion award orders are presently being incorporated into a written contract,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City forthwith implement
the terms and conditions of the orders of said Act 312 panels with respect
to the following:
(1) Salaries and cost-of-living increases effective December 1,
1976 and effective December 1, 1977,
(2) Dental insurance reimbursement: $175.00 effective
December 1, 1976, $200.00 effective December 1, 1977,
(3) Effective December 1, 1976, provide an annual uniform
maintenance allowance of $104.00.

A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result:
AYES: Brown, Bishop, Raymond, Nash and Ventura.
NAYS: None.
By Councilman Nash, seconded by Councilman Brown, and unanimously
adopted, this 172nd Special Meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia was duly
adjourned at 7:50 P. M. , July 24, 1978.
