HomeMy WebLinkAboutELEC COMM 1972-01-20 MINUTES OF MEETING OF ELECTION COMMISSION OF CITY OF LIVONIA JANUARY 20, 1972 A meeting of the Election Commission of the City of Livonia was held January 20, 1972 at the Livonia City Hall at 33001 Five Mile Road at approximately 4 00 P.M. , at which time and place the following members of said commission were present Edward H McNamara Mayor Addison W. Bacon City Clerk Pursuant to Section 5, Chapter III of the Charter of the City of Livonia and the laws of the State of Michigan, City Clerk Addison W Bacon, presiding, declared a quorum present and called the meeting to order. The Chairman stated that the purpose of the meeting was to review the computerization program of voter registration records and rearrangement of the precincts of the city. Upon a motion by Commissioner McNamara, supported by Commissioner Bacon and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, that having reviewed and considered the recommendation of the City Clerk, the commission hereby determines to recommend the rearrangement of the city' s present voting precincts in accordance with a plan using the numbered sections of the city as the basis for identifying and establishing voting precincts and providing sixty-three (63) precincts therefor, and further, the City Council is respectfully requested to amend the Livonia Code of Ordinances, Chapter 3, Sec. 2-301 through 2-313, accordingly. Upon a motion by Commissioner McNamara, supported by Commissioner Bacon and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby authorized to make such arrangements as may be necessary to purchase twenty-five (25) additional "Shoup type" voting machines to provide the necessary voting equipment, as well as other essential equipment and supplies, for the additional new precincts.
