HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL MINUTES 1967-07-03 8835 MINUTES OF THE FIVE HUNDRED SEVENTY-NINTH REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA On July 3, 1967, the above meeting was held at the City Hall, 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order by the President of the Council at approximately 8.23 P. M.. Councilman Kleinert delivered the invocation. Roll was called with the following result: Present--Peter A. Ventura, Rudolf R. Kleinert, Edward H. McNamara, Robert F. Nash, Jack Salvadore and Edward G. Milligan. Absent-- Jerry Raymond. Elected and appointed officials present• Addison W. Bacon, City Clerk, Steve Polgar, City Attorney; Harry C. Tatigian, Chief Assistant City Attorney, Dan Andrew, Industrial Coordinator, and David L. Jones, Water and Sewer Commissioner. By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman McNamara, and unanimously adopted, it was #700-67 RESOLVED, that the minutes of the 578th regular meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia, held June 26, 1967, are hereby approved. By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman McNamara, and unanimousl, adopted, it was #701-67 RESOLVED, that the minutes of the 113th special meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia, held June 28, 1967, are hereby approved. The President of the Council acknowledged receipt of two veto messages from the Mayor, both dated July 3, 1967, the first on council resolution #669-67 adopted on June 26, 1967 relative to petition #67-2-1-4, and the second on council resolution #659-67 adopted on June 26, 1967, relative to the claim of W. and Mrs. Nikorak. The veto message from the Mayor, dated July 3, 1967, relative to council resolution #669-67 (Petition #67-2-1-4), was received and filed. 8836 By Councilman Milligan, seconded by *Councilman Ventura, it was RESOLVED, that having considered the veto by the Mayor, dated July 3, 1967 of resolution #659-67 adopted by the Council on June 26, 1967 the Council does hereby readopt said resolution #659-67 the same as if it were word for word repeated herein. A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result: AYES: Ventura and Milligan. NAYS: Kleinert, McNamara, Salvadore and Nash. The Vice-President declared the resolution denied and the Mayor's veto sustained. *The President relinquished the Chair at 8:25 P. M., to support the above motion and resumed the Chair at 8:55 P. M. By Councilman Milligan, seconded by Councilman Nash, it was #702-67 RESOLVED, that the Council having considered a letter from the City Clerk and Department of Law dated June 30, 1967 regarding the action taken in council resolution #698-67, the Council does hereby determine to amend and modify council resolution #698-67 so as to have the same read as follows: RESOLVED that, the City Clerk or the Department of Law enter into renegotiations with the State Highway Department relative to the City of Livonia share of cost of Plymouth Road Reconstruction and construction of Interstate Route Number I-96, when and if proposed legislation relating to State Highway matters presently under consideration in the State Legislature becomes effective. A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result: AYES: Kleinert, McNamara, Nash, Salvadore, Milligan and Ventura. NAYS: None. By Councilman Nash, seconded by Councilman McNamara, and unanimously adopted, it was #703-67 RESOLVED, that having considered the letter dated June 22, 1967 from Mr. Rae L. Frame to the Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals, which letter tendered his resignation as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, effective June 30, 1967, the Council does hereby accept same. By Councilman Nash, seconded by Councilman Salvadore, and unanimously adopted, it was 8837 #704-67 RESOLVED, that pursuant to Section 21.02 of the Zoning Ordinance, Ordinance No. 543, as amended, and Section 5 of Act 207, Public Acts of Michigan, of 1921, as amended, Russel Haller, 9276 California, Livonia, Michigan, is hereby appointed as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the unexpired term of Rae L. Frame, commencing July 12, 1967 and ending July 11, 1968, with all of the authority and duties as set forth in said Zoning Ordinance and Act 207. By Councilman Salvadore, seconded by Councilman Nash, and unanimously adopted, this 579th regular meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia was duly adjourned at 8:50 P.
