HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL MINUTES 1964-05-20 Pap 6609 MINUTES OF THE FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY-'IRST REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CI'T'Y OF L IVON IA, On May 20, 1964, the above meeting was held at 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order at approximately 8:00 P. M., by the President of the Council, Rudolf R. Kleinert. Roll was called with the following result: Present-- Rudolf R. Kleinert. Absent-- Peter A. Ventura, Daniel C. Allen, John F. Dooley, Edward H. McNamara and James R. McCann. William N. Ponder, attorney for John T.Daugherty, made the following statement: My client has been served a restraining and show cause order at ap- proximately 6:30 P. M., as of this date, May 20, 1964. The order has the effect of suspending any action on the part of John Daugherty as a Councilman of the City of Livonia until a decision by the court is held at a hearing scheduled for May- 26, 1964. I wish to point out that ex-parte restraining orders are issued automatically by the court and we will comply with the action of the court, but I wish to hereby record the fact that Mr. John T. Daugherty has fully complied with all requirements of the City Charter in respect to his filling the vacancy on the City Council and does now and in the future stand ready to assume the duties and responsibilities of the office of Livonia City Council. The President announced that due to the lack of a quorum, which is four members of the Council, the meeting was adjourned; the time of this adjournment being 8:05 P.
