HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL MINUTES 1962-04-09 Page 5378 MINUTES OF THE THREE HUNDRED SIXTY-FIRST REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA On April 9, 1962, the above meeting was held at 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan, and being the first meeting of the new Council following the City election on April 2, 1962, and the inauguration of the newly elected members of the Council on this 9th day of April, 1962, such meeting was called to order by Marie W. Clark, City Clerk, at approximately 9:47 P. M. Councilman Kleinert delivered the invocation. Roll was called with the following result: Present-- Sydney B. Bagnall, John T. Daugherty, John F. Dooley, Rudolf R. Kleinert, James R. McCann, Edward H. McNamara and William E. Parks. Absent-- None. Councilman Kleinert nominated Councilman Bagnall for President of the Council, supported by Councilman Parks. Councilman Dooley moved that the nominations be closed, supported by Councilman McNamara. By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman Parks and unanimously adopted, it was #258-62 RESOLVED that, Sydney B. Bagnall is hereby declared to be President of the City Council for the two year period commencing April 9, 1962. Marie W. Clark, City Clerk, thereupon escorted the new President to the chair, and Mr. Bagnall presided over the balance of the meeting. By Councilman Daugherty, seconded by Councilman McCann and unanimously adopted, it was #259-62 RESOLVED that, Edward H. McNamara is hereby declared to be Vice President of the City Council for the two year period commencing April 9, 1962. By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman McNamara and unanimously adopted, it was #260-62 RESOLVED that, the minutes of the 360th regular meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia held on April 5, 1962, are hereby approved. Councilman Dooley asked to be excused from voting approval of the minutes because of no personal knowledge of the action taken by the Council. Page 5379 By Councilman Dooley, seconded by Councilman Daugherty and unanimously adopted, it was #261-62 RESOLVED that,pursuant to Section 1 of Chapter X of the Charter of the City of Livonia, the Council does hereby appoint Rudolf R. Kleinert as one of the Supervisors of the City of Livonia to represent the City on the Board of Supervisors for the County of Wayne, to hold office for a term of two years following this appointment and until his successor shall have been duly appointed and qualified, and with all the powers and duties set forth in said section; provided, however, that the person appointed to such office shall comply with the provisions of Sections 2 and 3 of Chapter X of the Charter. By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman McNamara and unanimously adopted, it was #262-62 RESOLVED that, pursuant to Section 1 of Chapter X of the Charter of the City of Livonia, the Council does hereby appoint John F. Dooley as a member of the Supervisors of the City of Livonia to represent the City on the Board of Supervisors for the County of Wayne, to hold office for a term of two years following this appointment and until his successor shall have been duly appointed and qualified, and with all the powers and duties set forth in said section; provided, however, that the person ap- pointed to such office shall comply with the provisions of Sections 2 and 3 of Chapter X of the Charter. By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman McCann and unanimously adopted, it was #263-62 RESOLVED that, pursuant to Section 3.02 of the Retirement Or- dinance, Ordinance No. 77, as amended, of the City of Livonia, John T. Daugherty is hereby appointed to the Board of Trustees for the Employees Retirement System. The President announced that the appointment of Committees would take place at the next regular meeting of the Council. On motion of Councilman Dooley, seconded by Councilman Kleinert and unanimously adopted, this 361st regular meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia was duly adjourned at 10:00 P.M., April 9, 1962.
