MINUTES OF THE THREE HUNDRED SIXTIETH REGULAR MEETING
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA
On April 5, 1962, the above meeting was held at 33001 Five Mile Road,
Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order by the President of the Council at
approximately 8:14 P. M. Councilman Grant delivered the invocation. Roll was
called with the following result: Present-- Sydney B. Bagnall, John T. Daugherty,
William N. Ponder, Rudolf R. Kleinert,Austin T.Grant, Jack Salvadore and James R.
McCann. Absent-- None.
By Councilman Ponder, seconded by Councilman Salvadore and unanimously
adopted, it was
#254-62 RESOLVED that, the minutes of the 359th regular meeting of the
Council of the City of Livonia held March 26, 1962, are hereby approved.
An Ordinance Amending section 3 of the Zoning Map of the City of Livonia
im. and Amending Article 3.00 of the Zoning Ordinance, Ordinance No. 60, as mended, of
the City of Livonia, by Adding Thereto Section 3.315, introduced on March 26, 1962,
by Councilman Daugherty, was taken from the table and a roll call vote conducted
thereon with the following result:
AYES: Grant, Salvadore, McCann, Daugherty, Ponder, Kleinert and Bagnall.
NAYS: None.
The President declared the Ordinance duly adopted and would become effective on
publication.
An Ordinance Amending Sections 20, 25, 30 and 31 of the Zoning Map of the
City of Livonia and Amending Article 3.00 of the Zoning Ordinance, Ordinance No. 60,
as amended, of the City of Livonia, by Adding Thereto Sections 3.316, 3.317, 3.318
and 3.319, introduced on March 26, 1962, by Councilman Ponder, was taken from the
11. table and a roll call vote conducted thereon with the following result:
AYES: Grant, Salvadore, McCann, Daugherty, Ponder, Kleinert and Bagnall.

The President declared the Ordinance duly adopted and would become effective on

An Ordinance Vacating Portions of Street, Alley and Public Ground,
(Petition V-60) introduced on March 26, 1962, by Councilman Ponder, was taken
from the table and a roll call vote conducted thereon with the following resnit:
AYES: Grant, Salvadore, McCann, Daugherty, Ponder, Kleinert and Bagnall.
NAYS: None.
The President declared the Ordinance duly adopted and would become effective on
publication.
An Ordinance Vacating Portions of Street, Alley and Public Ground,
(Petitions V-61 and V-63) introduced on March 26, 1962, by Councilman Ponder, was
taken from the table and a roll call vote conducted thereon with the following result:
AYES: Grant, Salvadore, McCann, Daugherty, Ponder, Kleinert and Bagnall.
NAYS: None.
The President declared the Ordinance duly adopted and would become effective on
publication.
An Ordinance Vacating Portions of Street, Alley and Public Ground,
(Petition V-62) introduced on March 26, 1962, by Councilman Ponder, was taken
from the table and a roll call vote conducted thereon with the following result:
AYES: Grant, Salvadore, McCann, Daugherty, Ponder, Kleinert and Bagnall.
NAYS: None.
The President declared the Ordinance duly adopted and would become effective on
publication.
By Councilman Daugherty, seconded by Councilman Kleinert, it was
RESOLVED that, consideration of the bids for furnishings
for the new Police Building be tabled to the next study meeting of
the Council.
A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result:
AYES: Grant, Daugherty, and Kleinert.
NAYS: Salvadore, McCann, Ponder and Bagnall.

The President declared the resolution denied.
By Councilman Salvadore, seconded by Councilman Ponder, it was
#255-62 RESOLVED that, having considered the report and recommendation
dated March 7, 1962, from the Director of Public Safety, approved by the
Mayor and Budget Director, the Council does hereby accept the unit price
bids submitted by the Robinson Furniture Company, 1420 Washington Blvd.,
Detroit 26, Michigan, for furnishings for the new Police Department
building, as indicated in the above report from the Director of Public
Safety, such having been the lowest bid received for these items.
A. roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result:
AYES: Grant, Salvadore, McCann and Ponder.
NAYS: Daugherty, Kleinert and Bagnall.
The President declared the resolution adopted.
The following resolution was unanimously introduced and adopted:
#256-62 WHEREAS, Austin T. Grant, Jack Salvadore and William N. Ponder
have each faithfully served the City of Livonia as members of the City
Council over the past several years, and
WHEREAS, Councilmen Grant, Salvadore and Ponder have in the course
of such service given unselfishly of their time and conducted themselves at
all times in a manner so as to merit the commendation of the people of this
community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, Councilmen Grant, Salvadore
and Ponder, having chosen to retire from City service, the City Council
takes this means to express its sincere respect and esteem for Austin T.
Grant, Jack Salvadore and Willian N. Ponder, together with its heartfelt
thanks for a job well done.
The following resolution was unanimously introduced and adopted:
#257-62 RESOLVED that, the City Council does hereby extend to Mayor
William W. Brashear its appreciation for the many years of good service
rendered to the people of Livonia and to the City of Livonia; and
sincerely believes that Mayor William W. Brashear has at all times
acted according to what he considered to be for the best interests for
the people of Livonia; and does hereby extend to Mayor William W. Brashear
its best wishes for a happy and successful future.
On motion of Councilman Grant, seconded by Councilman Salvadore and
unanimously adopted, this 360th regular meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia
was duly adjourned at 8:37 P. M., April 5, 1962.
