HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL MINUTES 1961-05-24 SPECIAL Page 1825 MINUTES OF THE SIXTY-SECOND SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA Pursuant to the provisions of Section 8, Chapter IV of the City Charter, the above meeting was held on May 2L4, 1961, at 33001 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order by the President of the Council at approximately 10:5L4 P. M. Roll was called with the following result: Present-- .Sydney B.Bagnall, Jack Salvadore, William N. Ponder, James R. McCann and Rudolf R. Kleinert. Absent-- Austin T. Grant and John T.Daugherty. By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman Ponder, it was #361-61 RESOLVED that, upon the recommendation of the Mayor and City Attorney and pursuant to Chapter V, Section 14 (h) of the City Charter, the Council does hereby retain the law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone as special legal counsel, to represent the City of Livonia by exhausting all available administrative appeals and remedies and by commencing all legal actions that may be necessary and available, on behalf of the City, in order to obtain a competent determination as to the reasonableness, validity and legality of the present local assessed value, County equalized value and State equalized value of the City of Livonia and in this connection to do all other things either necessary or incidental to the above; that for these services the Council does hereby authorize payment to such special counsel of the minimum fees prescribed in the current Detroit Bar Association fee schedule; and that notwithstanding any of the above, the Council reserves the right to request and receive, from time to time, progress reports indicating the status of all proceedings and also the right to discontinue such legal services at any time, upon payment of the fees earned to the date of such discontinuance. A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result: AYES: Salvadore, Ponder, McCann, Kleinert and Bagnall. NAYS: None.. On motion of Councilman Ponder, seconded by Councilman McCann and unanimously adopted, this 62nd special meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia was duly adjourned at 10:58 P.
