HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOUNCIL MINUTES 1959-05-04 SPECIAL Page 3911.1 MINUTES OF THE FORTY-FIFTH SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA On May 4, 1959, the above meeting was held, pursuant to the provisions of Section 8, Chapter IV of the City Charter, at 33001 Five AEle Road, Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order by the President at approximately 8:39 P. M. Councilman Sasser delivered the invocation. Roll was called with the following result: Present-- Austin T. Grant, Frank O'Neill, Sydney B. Bagnall, nudolf R. Kleinert, Robert Sasser, Jack Salvadore and James R. McCann. Absent-- None. By Councilman Bagnall, seconded by Councilman Sasser, it was 4267-59 RESOLVED that, having considered the report of Wor Brashear dated May 1, 1959, the report of the City Planning Commission dated August 26, 1958, and the reports of the Traffic Commission and Commissioner of Public Safety, the Council acknowledges receipt of the reports requested in resolution #597-58 adopted September 22, 1958, and hereby declares the conditions referred to therein have been met and the City Clerk -is hereby authorized to issue a license to Raymond Schreiber for the operation of a Drive-In Theater on Plymouth and Levan Roads in the Southwest 1/4 of Section 29, such license to be issued in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance No.193. A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following results AYES: Bagnall, Kleinert, Sasser, Salvadore and Grant. NAYS: O'Neill and McCann. The President declared the resolution adopted. By Councilman Salvadore, seconded by Councilman Sasser, it was #268-59 RESOLVED that, having considered the report and recommendation of the Superintendent of Operations Division and Director of Public Works dated April 16, 1959, the Council does hereby accept the balance of the items from the bid dated April 111, 1959 of Harold Phomas Nursery, ].4925 Middle Belt Road, Livonia, Michigan: 140 Sycamore (platanus occidentalis) 1-3/4" to 211 ® $12.50 $1,750.00 180 Green Ash (fraxinus lanceolatum) a " 2,250.00 and the City Clerk and 'Director of Public Works are herein authorized to do all things necessary to the full performance of this resolution. imm A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result: *Vetoed May 11, 1959 Page 3915 AYES: O'Neill, Kleinert, Sasser, Salvadore, McCann and Grant. NAYS: Bagnall. The President declared the resolution adapted. By Councilman Sasser, seconded by Councilman McCann, it was #269-59 RESOLVED that, the Council does herein reaffirm approval given to Kimberly Oaks Estates Subdivision and Kimberly Oaks Estates Subdivision No. 2, located in the Northwest and Southwest 1/14 of Section 22, City of Livonia, Michigan, given by Council resolution #74-59, adopted on January 26, 1959, and amended by Council resolutions #260-59 and #261-59, adopted on April 27, 1959; provided, however, that this reaffirmation shall not ii any way be construed to alter or change the terms and provisions of such resolutions. A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result: AYES: O'Neill, Bagnall, Kleinert, Sasser, Salvadore, McCann and Grant. NAYS: None. By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman Bagnall and unanimously adopted, it was #270-59 RESOLVED that, having considered the recommendation of the Livonia Police Department dated April 28, 1959, and the letter from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission dated March 13, 1959, the Council does hereby approve the request from Harry and Thelma Solon to transfer ownership of 1958 Class C license with Dance Permit from Charles Biagini and Valentino Berutti, 31735 Plymouth Road, Livonia, Michigan. By Councilman Bagnall, seconded by Councilman O'Neill and unanimously adopted, it was #271-59 RESOLVED that, having considered the recommendation of the Livonia Police Department dated April 16, 1959, and the letter from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission dated February 10, 1959, the Council does hereby approve the request from Abraham Reichman for a new SDM license to be located at 15210 Middlebelt, Livonia, Michigan. By Councilman Sasser, seconded by Councilman Bagnall and unanimously adopted, it was #272-59 RESOLVED that, having considered the recommendation of the Livonia Police Department dated April 28, 1959, aid the letter from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission dated March 6, 1959, the Council does hereby approve the request from John L. Kazanowski and Joseph Kotlinski to transfer ownership of 1958 Class C license from James Marano, located at 33201 Schoolcraft Road, Livonia, Michigan. Page 3916 By Councilman Sasser, seconded by Councilman Salvadore, it was #273-59 RESOLVED that, having considered the letter from the City Plan- ning Commission dated April 22, 1959, requesting certain additional funds, which request has been approved of by the Mayor, the Council does hereby transfer the sum of $314.00 from the Unappropriated Surplus to the City Planning Commission Account No. 19 (Travel & Education) for the purpose of providing expenses for two Planning Commission members to be incurred from their attendance at the American Society of Planning Officials Con- ference in Minneapolis, Minn., from May 10, 1959 through Nay 15, 1959. A roil call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result: AYES: O'Neill, Bagnall, Kleinert, Sasser, Salvadore, McCann and Grant. NAYS: None.
