MINUTES OF THE FORTY-SECOND SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA
On August 28, 1958, the above meeting was held at 33001 Five Mile Road,
Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order by the Vice-President at approximately
9:25 o'clock P. M. Roll was called with the following result: Present-- James R.
McCann, Frank O'Neill, Robert Sasser, Rudolf R. Kleinert, Sydney B. Bagnall and Jack
Salvadore. Absent-- Austin T. Grant.
By Councilman Sasser, seconded by Councilman Bagnall, it was
#S56-58 RESOLVED that, having considered certain information from bonding
counsel, Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, the Council does hereby re-
scind resolution #548-58, adopted at its regular meeting on August 25, 1958,
which resolution proposed an amendment to Chapter VIII, Section 1, of the
Livonia City Charter, aid the City Clerk is hereby requested to promptly
transmit copies of this resolution to the Governor and Attorney General of
the State of Michigan.
A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result:
AYES: O'Neill, Sasser, Kleinert, Bagnall„ Salvadore and McCann.
NAYS: None.
By Councilman Sasser, seconded by Councilman Bagnall and unanimously
adopted, it was
#557-58 RESOLVED that, the Department of Law is hereby directed to prepare
an ordinance and/or resolution establishing the manner in which bids shall
be received by the City of Livonia for municipal garbage pickup and garbage
disposal.
By Councilman Bagnall, seconded by Councilman Sasser aid unanimously
adopted, it was
#558-58 RESOLVED that, the Department of Law is hereby requested to pre-
pare an ordinance establishing a Garbage Disposal System, pursuant to the
provisions of Act No. 298 of the Public Acts of 1917, State of Michigan, as
amended, which ordinance shall prescribe the manner by which funds shall be
raised to establish, operate aid maintain such System, aid with the limita-
tion that there shall in no c ase be a tax levy of more than one (1) mill
for such purpose.
On motion of Councilman Bagnall „ seconded by Councilman Kleinert and
unanimously adopted, this 42nd Special. Meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia
was duly adjourned at 9:10 o'clock P. M., August 28, 1958.
