MINUTES OF THE TWENTY-THIRD SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA
On September 28, 1954, the above meeting was held at 33001 Five Mile
Road, Livonia, Michigan, and was called to order by the President of the Council,
John T. Daugherty at 8.07 P M Roll was called with the following result:
Present-- John T. Daugherty, David L Jones, Rudolf R Kleinert, John W Whitehead,
Nettie Carey and Wilson W Edgar Absent-- Harry R. Killam
Councilman Killam waived his right of notification and attendance
pursuant to Section 8, Chapter IV of the Charter
By Councilman Kleinert, seconded by Councilman Carey, it was
#1782 RESOLVED, that an appropriation of $5,000.00 be and hereby
is transferred from the Unallocated Fund to the Special Legal Counsel
Budget Account No 69
A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result•
AYES Jones, Kleinert, Whitehead, Carey, Edgar and Daugherty.
NAYS: None.
By Councilman Edgar, seconded by Councilman Whitehead, it was
#1783 RESOLVED, that, Russell C Ashmore, alleged City Attorney
of the City of Livonia, having filed suit against members of the
City Council and the City Clerk, the number of which suit is Chancery
No 524,017, and it being necessary and appropriate that such Council
members and City Clerk be properly defended, Chris M. Youngjohn of
the law firm of Youngjohn, Worley, Brown and Flynn, of Detroit, Michigan,
is hereby retained to represent in said suit the members of the City
Council and the City Clerk, that said law firm be paid compensation of
$30.00 an hour and that the City Clerk issue to said law firm a check
in the amount of $1,500 00 as a retainer to apply upon said compensa-
tion, that said payment be made from the Special Legal Budget Account;
and that the City Treasurer and other City officials sign such instru-
ments and do such other things as may be reasonably necessary or in-
cidental to the full performance of this resolution.
A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolution with the following result.
AYES: Jones, Kleinert, Whitehead, Carey, Edgar and Daugherty.
NAYS. None

unanimously adopted, this 23rd Special Meeting of the Council of the City of
Livonia was duly adjourned at 9.10 P M
