OF THE LIVONIA TRAFFIC COMMISSION
The 639th Regular meeting of the Livonia Traffic Commission was held in the third floor
conference room at City Hall on Thursday, September 11, 2008 and called to order by
Chairman Joe Steele.
PRESENT: Commissioners Gordon Draper, Amy Kirksey, Jim Policel l i, Kevin Priddy,
Gordon St. John and Sergeant David Studt Also in attendance Robert R.Cook, 31021

The minutes of the meeting of August 14, 2008 were reviewed.
Upon a motion by Mr. Draper, seconded by Mr. Policelli, and unanimously adopted, it
was
08-41 RESOLVED, That the commission minutes for August 14, 2008 be approved as
presented.
Robert Cook, 31021 Minton, discussed his concerns for small children and other
pedestrians because of the removal of STOP signs in his area. He stated cars are
speeding at 70 mph on his street. The Chairman explained to the residents the reasons
for removing the STOP signs is that the City must be in conformance with the State
regulations by 2010. There was much discussion with the attending residents
concerning their individual streets.
Dwayne Roszkowski, 14139 Berwick, presented a Petition for Reversal of STOP Signs
Replacement on Berwick (between 1-96 and Lyndon)
Upon a motion by Mr. Priddy, seconded by Mr. St. John, and unanimously adopted, it
was
08-42 RESOLVED, that the commission will forward this Petition to City Council for their
review.
The commission reviewed Traffic Control Survey Recommendations regarding Section
32.
Upon a motion by Ms. Kirksey, seconded by Mr. Draper, and unanimously adopted, it
was
08-43 RESOLVED, that the commission approves Traffic Control Survey
Recommendations regarding Section 32 as follows:.

The commission discussed a request for a speed limit sign on Berwick approximately 25
feet from Schoolcraft.
Upon a motion by Mr. Priddy, seconded by Mr.Policelli, and unanimously adopted, it
was
08-46 RESOLVED, that the commission approves the installation of a speed limit sign on
Berwick approximately 25 feet from Schoolcraft..
Upon a motion by Mr Draper, seconded by Mr.Priddy, and unanimously adopted, it was
08-47 RESOLVED, that the commission approves the removal of STOP signs in Section
22 on Ellen at Westmore.
Upon a motion by Mr, Priddy seconded by Mr. Draper, and unanimously adopted, it
was
08-48 RESOLVED, that the commission approves the removal of STOP signs on Lyndon
at Berwick, leaving the STOP sign on Berwick.
Upon a motion by Mr Draper, seconded by Ms. Kirksey, and unanimously adopted, it
was
08-49 RESOLVED, that the commission approves the removal of STOP signs in Section 18
for Bristol at Blue Skies. Change STOP sign to YIELD on Blue Skies at Bristol (northeast
corner)
Upon a motion by Mr St. John, seconded by Mr. Policelli, and unanimously adopted, it
was
08-50 RESOLVED, that the commission approves the replacement of the STOP sign at
the corner of W. Chicago at Houghton with a YIELD sign and the supplemental CROSS
TRAFFIC DOES NOTSTOP. Remove STOP sign at northbound Houghton at W. Chicago.
Install STOP sign at northbound Houghton at Ann Arbor Rd..
Upon a motion by MrSt. John, seconded by Ms. Kirksey, and unanimously adopted, it
was
RESOLVED, That the meeting be adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
