HomeMy WebLinkAboutTraffic Commission 2012-09-13MINUTES OF THE 680m REGULAR MEE LIVONIA TRAFFIC COMMISSION The 680`" Regular meeting of the Livonia Traffic Commission was held in the third floor conference room at City Hall on Thursday, September 13, 2012; it was called to order by Chairman Joe Steele. PRESENT: Commissioners: John Katers, Kevin Priddy, Gordon St. John, Jim Policelli, along with Police Officer: Sergeant John Gibbs VISITORS ATTENDING: Angela Matthews, 5373 Military Ave., Brighton; James Dupuie, 11196 Laurel, Livonia; Claudia Stanton, Melvin St. (section 2), Livonia; Joseph Larldn, 16720 Fulton Pines Ct. (section 13), Livonia. OPEN DISCUSSIONS: Joe Larkin had questions regarding width of streets and no panting signs in cul-de- sacs for emergency fire/rescue vehicles for properties, including his on Fulton Pines Ct in section 13. Chairman Steele responded and advised appropriately. Claudia Stanton had concerns with placement of speed limit signs on St Martins Street in section 2. The placement of the signs will be reviewed and moved as needed. Agenda Item 1: The minutes of the July 12, 2012, meeting was reviewed. Upon a motion by John Katers, seconded by Joe Steele, it was approved by unanimous vote that: 12-99 RESOLVED, the commission minutes from July 12, 2012, are approved as presented. Agenda Item 2: Request to install 25 mph speed limit signs on Southampton at Newburgh Road. Upon a motion by Gordon St. Johns, seconded by Jim Policelli, it was approved by unanimous vote that: 12-100 RESOLVED, to install 25 mph speed limit signs on Southampton at Newburgh Road. Agenda Item 4: Request from James Dupuie, representing the local neighborhood watch, to install 25 mph speed limit signs at the north and south entrance on Laurel Street in section 33. After a brief discussion regarding suggested placement locations, it was agreed to install two signs on Laurel Street. Upon a motion from Kevin Priddy and seconded by John Katers, it was approved by unanimous vote that: 12-101 RESOLVED, to install 25 mph speed 1®it signs on Laurel S Wert just north of Pinefree and south of Plymouth Road. Agenda Item 3: Hospital direction signs discussions on city and county roads throughout Livonia continued with the Commission and Angela Matthews from the July 12, 2012, meeting; sign size and placement suggestions were provided from the members. Electronic and telephone communications with the city engineer, along with having him present at the October meeting, will facilitate the timing of this sign project. 12-102 RESOLVED, that Chairman Joe Steele sign and approve Tra1Hc Control Order (TCO) 11-12 &12-13.
