Also, lsome much needed landscaping work is currently underway around the Civ�c Center campus. Plants and trees are being removed and new folxage xs beu�g planted in its place to clean up the overgrowth problem that has i � talfen place over the past several years. i G Y � • Civzc Center Roaf Replacement: Steady pxogress is being made as plans t " } move forward to replace the roof at the Clvic Center Library If all goes �-�/ as planned,work will begm sometlme ln Qctober • Genrecon 2015 Year two of C'renrecon, a iibrary hterary canventlon, is scheduled to take place an Saturday, September 19� This year's highlighted "genres" will include true crime, psychrc phenomena, mspirational living and iacal history • Security Cameras Crty Council has begun discussmg plans for security cameras around the entire Civic Genter campus. 5.2 Civil Service Report— • Ass�stant Branch LibxarzanBranches—The ABL candldate we had planned ta h�re has encountered additional medical prablems and, therefare, has still not been able to start working for us. • Part-Time Clerk I — A part-time clerk position became available at the branches when full-time clerk Noelle Lomas was promoted ta a Library Aide I positian at Civic Center, and part-time clerk Jennifer Kanlcula went from a part-time clerk to a full-time clerk to replace Noelle. This left vacant a part- tame-clerk position at the branches. ' {, � 5 7 The Library Network: � � • TLN Services TLN did re-work the fiindxng parameters caiculat�ng the cost of I the shared automatxon system far its members. Based on the new formula, our I cost has been reduced by 27 77% In 2014, our chaxges were $108,660 based on I the past calculations. For 2015, our new charges will be $76,331 I I � I � � � I I I � i � : �`' � COMMISSION REPORTS Commissioner Cathy Condon commented on the upcoming teen program on August 22nd at the Civic Center Library about self-publishing your own book. Cathy happens to know the author, Andy Skryzynski, and was happy to see that he would be conducting a program at the library FRIENDS REPORT There was no new mformation to report. UNFINISHED BUSINESS There was no unfirushed business to address this month. l NEW BUSINESS 9 1 Acceptance of Donations — Toru reported the followmg donations were received this �' month. $80 00 from Christma Sulnnan in memory of Abbey Olenczuk; $750 00 from Dr William Civello, $50 00 from Mr & Mrs. W Berry m memory of Ronald Klingensmith. On a motion by Christme McQuiston, seconded by Cathy Condon, and unannnously adopted, it was #08-15 RESOLVED, that the Livonia Library Commission gratefully accept the following donations $80.00 from Christina Suliman in memory of Abbey Olenczuk; $750.00 from Dr. William Civello; $50.00 from Mr. & Mrs. W. Berry in memory of Ronald HIingensmith. Meeting was ad�ourned at 4.30 p.m. �
