HomeMy WebLinkAboutSYNOPSIS - 2014-04-07 th SYNOPSIS OF THE MINUTES OF THE 1,750 REGULAR MEETING LIVONIA CITY COUNCIL – APRIL 7, 2014 Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Brosnan. Present: Brian Meakin, Laura Toy, Lynda Scheel, Susan Nash, Brandon Kritzman, John Pastor, and Maureen Miller Brosnan. Absent: None. #85-14 Resolution by Pastor and Kritzman, unanimously adopted, approving the MAD th FAT minutes of the 1,749 Regular Meeting of the Council held March 19, 2014. AUDIENCE COMMUNICATION: None. The following items were received and filed: Communication from the Department of Finance dated March 3, 2014, re: forwarding the Quarterly Investment Report for the City of Livonia as of November 30, 2013. The following resolutions were offered by Toy and Kritzman: MAD #86-14 Referring the request to vacate the existing Beatrice Avenue right-of-way FAT south of Norfolk Avenue, adjacent to Lots 16 and 17 in the Elmwood Farms Subdivision, Insp located in the Northeast 1/4 of Section 2, to the City Planning Commission for its report Plan Eng and recommendation. (Petition 2014-02-03-01) #87-14 Referring the subject of the replacement of stop signs on Elmira Street, MAD FAT between Merriman and Hubbard because of safety issues, to the Traffic Commission for TrafCom its report and recommendation. #88-14 Accepting the bid of RouteMatch Software, 1201 W. Peachtree St., Suite MAD FAT 3300, Atlanta, Georgia 30309, for completing all work required in connection with the IS technology upgrade and five (5) year maintenance contract for the Livonia Community Transit Call Center in the total amount of $266,992.00, the same having been sole bid received and meets all specifications; FURTHER, the Council does hereby authorize an expenditure in an amount not to exceed $266,992.00 from funds budgeted for this purpose, with the understanding that the City will be reimbursed $213,594.00 of that amount under an approved grant from the Federal Transit Administration. #89-14 Authorizing a two-year extension of the gasoline and diesel fuel contract MAD FAT for truck transports (over 5000 gallons) with Petroleum Traders, Inc., 7120 Pointe Inverness Way, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804 and RKA Petroleum Companies, Inc., 28340 Wick Road, Romulus, Michigan 48174 and for tank wagons (under 5000 gallons) to Atlas Oil Company, 24501 Ecorse Road, Taylor, Michigan 48180, for the period of February 1, 2014 through January 31, 2016, under the terms and conditions of the original bid accepted January 25, 2012, with funds already budgeted for this purpose to be expended. th SYNOPSIS OF THE MINUTES OF THE 1,750 REGULAR MEETING 2 LIVONIA CITY COUNCIL – April 7, 2014 #90-14 Accepting the unit price bid of Hard Rock Concrete, Inc., 38146 Abruzzi MAD FAT Drive, Westland, Michigan 48185 for performing all work required in connection with the Eng 2014 Concrete Road Repair Program (Contract 14-C), for the estimated total cost of $1,679,913.00, based on the Engineering Division’s estimate of units of work involved and subject to the final payment based on the actual units of work completed in accordance with the unit prices accepted herein, said estimated cost and unit prices having been in fact the lowest bid received for this item; FURTHER, the Council does hereby authorize an expenditure in the amount of $1,486,148.00 from funds already budgeted for this purpose in the Roads, Sidewalks and Tree Fund; FURTHER, the Council hereby appropriate and authorize an additional expenditure of $193,765.00 from the unexpended fund balance of the Roads, Sidewalks and Tree Fund for this purpose; and the City Engineer is hereby authorized to approve minor adjustments in the work as required. A roll call vote was taken on the foregoing resolutions: AYES: Meakin, Toy, Scheel, Nash, Kritzman, Pastor, and Brosnan. NAYS: None. AUDIENCE COMMUNICATION: None. Mayor Kirksey gave an update on the I-96 closure. He announced there will be a meeting with MDOT representatives on Tuesday, 8:30 a.m., April 8, 2014, to address citizens’ concerns regarding the Merriman Road bridge work last weekend and the noise. th By Meakin and Toy, unanimously adopted, adjourning this 1,750 Regular Meeting of the Council of the City of Livonia at 7:10 p.m. on April 7, 2014.
