HomeMy WebLinkAboutPRDA MINUTES 2009-09-17 MINUTES OF THE 212TH GENERAL MEETING OF THE PLYMOUTH ROAD tof DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF LIVONIA The 212th General Meeting of the Plymouth Road Development Authority of the City of Livonia, Michigan, was called to order at 3:08 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2009, in the 4th floor conference room of City Hall. Members Present: John Hiltz, Chairman Betsy McCue Toni Mette Lowell Peterson Jeff Staebler Members Absent: Jack Kirksey, Mayor (excused) Wayne Glass (excused) Scott Grace (excused) Greg Meyer (excused) Dan West (excused) Others Present: John J. Nagy, Executive Director Mark Taormina, Livonia Planning Director Scott Miller, Livonia Planner Patrick Mannor, API Keith Lutz, API Carey Baker, Beckett & Raeder Steve Levesque, Commercial Mowing Robert Auth, Resident Marge Watson, Secretary 1. Roll was called. A quorum was not present. 2. Presentation on the renovation of the Plymouth Place Plaza. Mr. Patrick Mannor, CEO of API, presented their proposal to remodel the exterior of the commercial center located at 34706-34730 Plymouth Road, on the north side of Plymouth Road between Stark Road and Belden Court. The Board agreed to support the request for vacating the right-of-way, repairing the parking lot, reducing the berm, minimal tree removal and no changes to the existing sign. 3. Committee Reports: Executive Committee: (a) Mr. Nagy reported that the dedication on behalf of Stan Anderson held at the Wilson Barn on August 30 was well represented by PRDA members. (b) Mr. Nagy presented the graphic changes of the seasonal banners prepared by Above and Beyond; the permanent and Fall banners are currently being manufactured and the Spring. Summer and Winter banners will be made in the next budget year. September 17, 2009 2 400 Construction Committee: (a) Carey Baker, Beckett & Raeder, provided an update on several projects in his correspondence dated September 17, 2009: (1) Shaw Electric has completed the installation of six lighting cabinets along Plymouth Road. (2) Arpee Donnan has completed the survey work at Hubbard Road and Tech Center Drive and drawings will be submitted to MDOT mid-October. (3) A meeting will be held in October with MDOT to discuss the lights and traffic signals between Newburgh Road and Ann Arbor Trail. (4) Mr. Hiltz requested Beckett & Raeder to provide a letter recommending a payment amount of $65,729.31 for materials ordered for the Wayne and Stark Road streetscape contract that was cancelled with Rauhorn Electric. Public Relations Committee: Toni Mette reported that the next newsletter will features articles on Dots, Biggby Coffee and the status of car dealerships, and that future issues will feature longstanding businesses in the corridor as well. 4. Director's Report: (a) Mr. Nagy stated that the tree trimming contract with Commercial Mowing Services has been completed; 62 trees were trimmed and 3 trees removed to improve visibility for signs and lighting. Steve Levesque, CMS, added that tree limbs that are projecting onto roofs will be removed as part of the regular maintenance contract. try 5. Polling of Members: John Hiltz noted that parking lot repairs have not been made as promised by the owner of Wonderland Lanes in exchange for sewer repairs made by the City in 2007. Toni Mette stated that the flowers and maintenance performed by CMS look good. Adjournment: On a motion duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted, the 212th General Meeting held by the Plymouth Road Development Authority on September 17, 2009, was adjourned at 4:25 p.m. The next meeting of the Plymouth Road Development Authority will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2009.
