Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 6 32 p m
Present: Bosak, Eno, Karczewski, Leeper, Rogin, C Spurling, D Spurling,
J Valentine, P Valentine, Voran
Absent: Duggan, Khzouz
Staff: Swish
Guest: Richard Emrich-VAAL, and Helen Moore
Motion 1-26-1 was made by Karczewski and seconded by P Valentine to approve the
minutes of the meeting held on December 8, 2015 Approved
Motion 1-26-2 by Eno and seconded by P Valentine to grant VAAL (Visual Art
Association of Livonia) $500 to be used towards a 2016 program Members of VAAL on
the commission abstained from the vote Approved
Treasurer Reporfi:
Swish — No report. $18,000 still remains in Budget. The 2016 budget will be set at
February's meeting
Gallery/City Hall
Karczewski- Gallery• In January, The Monks & Friars Letterpress Club is displaying in
the Gallery The Greater Detroit Camera Club will be in the Gallery in February
J/P Valentine -City Hall - In January, Jilian Cramb is displaying acrylic on canvas In
February, Kathleen W O'Connell is displaying Oil and Watercolor in the lobby
Fine Arts Exhibition
Karczewski- Looking for a new juror
MFTH
Duggan- No Report. Swish reported that applications have started to come in Parks &
Recreation has asked Community Resources if the Arts Commission would like to
sponsor 3 children's concerts during the summer Will discuss at next meeting

Scholarships
C Spurling —Applications are ready and can be found on Livonia Arts Commission
Facebook, City of Livonia Facebook, and City of Livonia website Applications are due
in by postmark date of 2-19-16 Interviews to be held March 19t"—April 3, 2016
Presentation of Scholarship winners will be Monday April 18, 2016 before the City
Council Meeting

Leeper—There has been "blasts" on Facebook regarding the 2016 Arts Commission
Scholarship Applications Leeper is sending out emails to all of the commissioners so
that we can have a "Meet The Commissioner" segment on Facebook. Leeper is trying to
help promote more information for the MFTH series
Old Business—
Livonia PTSA Reflections• This was completed by the commission
New Business -
Library Signage—Tabled until February
African Art— last know value is $32,000 The commission will gather the artwork and
decide where and how to display it.
