Magee United in Marriage Daniels Family Came Won By To Richard Skoglund And Friends West Siders At the Coventry Gardens Labor Day �ba]1 game played at the Liv- onia Center School grounds, the West side of the Gardens was again victorious over the East side to the tune of 11 to 7. Clarence P. Jahn and Gus Esche's were the winning battery and William Meir and Richard Gaston the loosers. The Jahn brothers were the managers for the two teams, however Harvey Jahn was unable to be at the game due to illness in the family. This was the second in a series of softball games played in this com•rnunity with the first game played at the picnic on July 4th. Jahn's and John's Lose Exhibition Bowling Matches Last Tuesday evening before many spectators at the Livonia Recreation Alleys, the Ira Wilson and Sons All Star Classic bowl- ing team led .by Johnny Crim- mins, took all three games from Jahn's Brothers in an exhibition match. Henry Tudball had the high series for Ja'hn's with 597 and Ja•h:n's rolled 886-936 and 978 for a total of 2800 :pins. "Freddie" Breckles was high for Wilson and Sons with a 6277 series and a high game score of 279 where he bowled nine strikes. Joyce Dawn Magee Skoglund In the Livonia `Community Church Saturday, August 31st at 6:00 p.m. the Rev. John E. Hend- ricks united in marriage Joyce Dawn Magee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Magee, and Rich- ard Skoglund, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Skoglund. Pink gladiolus and :palms were arranged on the chancel. The bride, given in marriage by her father; wore a gown of white satin with a lace yoke and long fitted sleeves extending into points over her wrists. The skirt was fashioned with a long train and the fingertip veil was held in place by a coronet of white beads and pearls. She carried white gardenias and baby mums. Miss Jerry Lou Sowers, who attended as maid of honor, wore a gown of pink net and carried an arm bouquet of blue asters. (Continued on page 10) voters Who Have Registered and Registered Voted in the Past Two Years Need Not Register For The Fall Election Voters in Livonia Township, if they were registered and voted in the Presidential election two years ago, or since, will not have to register this fall. Livonia has had a ,permanent registration for the past ten years and under the law voters are not required to register again if they have voted sometime during the past two years. Harry S. Wolfe, Township Clerk, stated that a check of the records was being made and everyone who has registered in the past two years but did not vote will be sent a self explana- tory card which should be filled in and returned to the clerk. This card on its return to the clerks - office reinstates those registrants who did not vote. Those who registered more than two years ago and have not vot- ed in the last two years or have never registered are required by law to register twenty days prior to the election November 5th, which makes the deadline Octo- ber 16th. Harry S. Wolfe's office at 32398 Five Mile Road is open from 9 to 5 p.m. daily for those who wish to register in order to vote in the Fall election. According to Mr. Wolfe, over 4,000 persons voted two years ago in the Presidential election and none of these people are re- quired to register again, how- ever it is estimated that there are about 1,000 elgible persons wl-o are not registered, but must •do so in order to vote in November. Tickets are available from all members of the Executive Board. Get your tickets early as the dinner will be limited to sixty persons. There will be a speaker for the evening that .will be an- nounced at a later date. Scout Executive Board Makes Plans for Year The Executive Board of Liv- onia Township Girl Scout organ- ization met at the home of Mrs. G. C. Cook at 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 10th. Plans for the fai'i and winter season were discussed and plans made at this time. Enjoy Picnic A very enjoyable day was spent last Sunday by the Daniels fam- ily and their friends when they spent part of the day at Cass Benton Park where a hamburger fry and all that goes with it was indulged in by the picnickers. A ball game was well under- way (with both sides claiming to be winning) when the rains came and drove them back to the "HiBe" house, the Daniels home in Coventry Gardens where super was served and after •which danc- ing was enjoyed by all :present. Music was furnished by the Melody Marvels accordian band from Detroit. The girls attending were June Dick- ens, Patty Byrd, Mary Ann West - fall and Joan Thatcher. A late lunch of Spaghetti, pretzels and pop was served. The evening was spent gossipping and dancing. Mr. Oscar Evans of Rayburn Avenue :who has been very ill and spent several days in the Detroit Osteopathic Hospital has returned to his home. Mr. Evans seems to be :greatly improved and his many :friends and neigh- bors wish him a speedy recovery. Mrs. Mabel Hebert of Lenox, Michigan mother of Mrs. Harvey Jahn, passed away on September 6th. The funeral will held at 2:00 p.in. on Monday, September 9th from the Haley Funeral Home. Over the Labor Day weekend the Benson's also entertained Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Allsen who have re- tured from a eight months busi- ness trip from Brazil. Dr. and Mrs. O. L. Brooker have returned from Bruce Beach where they spent the summer. Dr. Brooker will be in attendance at his office starting Monday, September 9th, 1946. The Camp Fire Executive Board will meet at the home of Mrs. E. H. Hamilton on Rayburn Avenue, Wednesday, September 25th for luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Plans for the corning year for Blue Birds and Camp Fire Girls will be discussed. Mrs. Lester Bookout will enter- tain the members of the Ellen Parkin Club at her home for luncheon on September 12th.. The members of the Ellen Parkin Club are all the Worthy Matrons of the Wayne County Eastern Star from last year. Ellen Parkin is the last year's Worthy Grand Matron of the Order of the East- ern Star. Clyde Bentley dropped the ed- itor a card from Colorado Springs August 31st and the day before the three of them had taken the trip to Pikes Peak. Saturday, Mrs. Bentley, Clyde and George had dinner with the Governor of .the state of Colorado. Jim Thorton, son of Mr, and Mrs. William Wood, entertained fourteen dinner :guests at his home on Friday, September 6th. .Jim's dinner was 'in honor of George Valrance who is home on furlough and expects on his return to be sent overseas; and for Clarence Hoffman who will enter the United States Army next week.
