VOTING MEETING OF
FEBRUARY 3, 2021
Call to Order
Meeting called to order at 6:02 p.m.
Present: Kristin Waterbury, Kelly Victor-Burke, Kathy Johnson-Bartshe, Betsy Calhoun,
Stephanie Reece, Emily Tchorz-Fielder

Will continue to receive mail and other items at Greenmead; can continue to meet at
Greenmead
Approval of October Meeting Minutes
02/01 B. Calhoun makes a motion to pass meeting minutes. K. Victor-Burke seconds.
All approve.
New/Old Business
Cemetery Stone Repair at Clarenceville 2021, $5,500 available, fence?
o Dave is retiring in March, but will be doing stone repair full time.
o 02/02 K. Waterbury makes a motion to recommend the approval of up to
$5,000 to repair cemetery headstones. K. Victor-Burke seconds. All
approve.
o Will review more headstones and cemeteries when the weather is nice
o Clarenceville Fence – Emily reached out after December meeting; will
follow up
Preservation Month is May, self-driving tour of Historic Properties?
o Dave agreed to headstone workshop in May
o Possibly have students work to put together tour of Historic Properties
o Seminar with State Historic office to do a presentation
K. Johnson-Bartshe will call office to see availability
02/03 B. Calhoun makes a motion to recommend the approval of
up to $500 for upcoming virtual public education program geared
towards historic property owners, city officials, and other. K.
Waterbury seconds. All approve.
EMU Historic Preservation students /WSU Humanities Students
o You could have a broad variety of students participating in projects
o K. Waterbury will reach out to WSU Humanities Clinic for possible interns;
will share proposals we put together in 2020
o K. Victor-Burke stressed that we should develop projects with specific
timelines/ideas
o Possibly have students work on driving tour for May 2022
Fundraisers
Happily Ever After 2021 cancel or rescheduled from March 2021 to July 15/16
Possibly hold in March, depending on orders; registration in timeslots with a
limited number of people; Kathy will call Maureen
Theme: Generations of dresses
Hold from 7-9:30 p.m.
o 02/04 K. Waterbury makes a motion to recommend the approval of up to
$500 for Happily Ever After. B. Calhoun seconds. All approve.

Current Issues
Budget 2020 – 2021 $5,300
Historic District Survey
K. Johnson-Bartshe has past survey form; will scan and digitize for use in survey
Tablet is at the office now; can be used for photos of homes for survey
Certified Local Government
K. Johnson-Bartshe is working on application; will send to commissioners for
comments
Greenmead Updates
Livonia Hall of Fame at Greenmead? HPC was concerned that the Hall of Fame
was not really a historical element that fit at Greenmead. Reviewing RFPs for the
master plan this week before moving forward on projects for 2021. Bungalow and
Kingsley rooves need to be redone this year; gift shop painted and new carpet
installed. Paint and wood repairs needed in many places. Gutters for Shaw and
Blue this year as well; Gutters and roof should be redone at the Kingsley House
th
at the same time. Valentines event on Feb. 13. Working to expand
programming at Greenmead throughout the year. Master Plan Meeting with
th
interviews with companies for Greenmead project: Friday, Feb. 12. K. Johnson-
Bartshe will be attending as HPC representative. HPC Commission will play an
integral role in the development of the Greenmead portion of the plan.
Walk On Items
Orson-Everett House: under contract with a buyer with the price lowered
dramatically due to lack of interest. Engineering firm is interested and would use
the building in the capacity as it is. Interested in renovating interior to suit their
needs; minor improvements. Exterior: intend to make changes in signage and
layout of parking. Will likely want to talk about accessory building with the
Commission at some point.
Newburg Mill: county extended the contract to Cox and partners; no word from
them on the status of the property.
