HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-01-03 REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD January 3, 2022 The Regular Meeting of the Water and Sewer Board of the City of Livonia, Michigan, held on Monday, January 3, 2022 was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman Brett Gierak. Roll was called with the following present: Members Present: Brett Gierak Rich Skaggs Valerie Jackson Ken Jones Candy Little Others Present: Dave Brown, 12633 Inkster Paul Esser, 34323 Burton Lane Tom Wilson, Water Supervisor Jen Schilk, Accountant II Janell Hoffman, Account Clerk I Jill Russell, Secretary III 1. Approval of Minutes dated December 6, 2021 Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Greg Jones #WS 6153 01/22 RESOLVED, that the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held December 6, 2021 are hereby approved. AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Jones, Jackson, Little 2. Letter dated December 21, 2021 from Supervisor of Public Works, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Dave Brown, 12633 Inkster Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Candy Little #WS 6154 01/22 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Mr. Brown the Water and Sewer Board voted to take no action on Mr. Brown’s request for a reduction in the billed amount for the water used at his location. The Board agreed that since the building had been vacant for so long, the pipes were filled with sediment which caused the clogging of plumbing fixtures resulting in replacement costs for fixtures and the overuse of water to clear them and that this issue was not the result of any negligence on the part of the City. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD January 3, 2022 NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 3. Letter dated December 16, 2021 from Supervisor of Public Works, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Paul Esser, 34323 Burton Lane Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Valerie Jackson #WS 6155 01/22 RESOLVE, that after discussion with Mr. Esser the Water and Sewer Board does hereby grant effective January 3, 2022 a Twelve (12) month payment plan whereby the account will receive monthly versus quarterly billings from now on. If required, an M2 reading device will be installed at the residence within the next thirty days. During the twelve (12) month payment plan, each monthly bill is to be paid in full and on time. All late fees will be held in abeyance during this time, with the understanding that if the balance is not paid by the expiration date of this extension, all such late fees held in abeyance, plus any additional fees incurred for nonpayment will be returned to the account. Additionally, the Board requests that the outstanding balance that would be assigned to the 2022 Winter taxes not be consigned, provided the account is in good standing and meeting their obligations if under a payment plan agreement. The Board does also hereby grant the removal of the penalty dated December 14, 2021 in the amount of $71.84. A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 4. Letter dated November 29, 2021 from Supervisor of Public Works, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Valary Ewings, 19554 Farmington Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Greg Jones REGULAR MEETING WATER & SEWER BOARD January 3, 2022 #WS 6156 01/22 RESOLVE, that the Water and Sewer Board does table this matter to the February 7, 2022 meeting at which time the resident is able to appear. All penalties will be held until that time A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 5. Letter dated November 18, 2021 from Supervisor of Public Works, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Justin Ayoub, 11895 Adams Ct. Motioned by Rich Skaggs seconded by Candy Little #WS 6157 01/22 RESOLVE, that the Water and Sewer Board does table this matter to the February 7, 2022 meeting at which time the resident is able to appear. All penalties will be held until that time A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. 6. Letter dated December 16, 2021 from Supervisor of Public Works, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Zuhour Taamneh, 11665 Inkster Motioned by Greg Jones seconded by Valerie Jackson #WS 6158 01/22 RESOLVE, that the Water and Sewer Board does table this matter to the February 7, 2022 meeting at which time the resident is able to appear. All penalties will be held until that time A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. Request to approve the following items to Receive & File Motioned by Candy Little, seconded by Valerie Jackson #WS 6159 01/22 RESOLVE The following items were received for filing by the Water Board: 1. Letter dated December 16, 2021 from Supervisor of Public Works, Subject: Request for Consideration of Bill - Jennifer Lee, 34308 Burton Lane A roll call vote was taken: AYES: Gierak, Skaggs, Little, Jackson, Jones NAYS: The Chairman declared the motion carried. The next meeting of the Water and Sewer Board is scheduled for Monday, February 7, 2022 at 5:00pm. Upon a motion by Greg Jones, seconded by, Valerie Jackson, the meeting was adjourned at 5:35 pm.
