Valentine, VanDeven Absent: Gilligan, Mang, Spence, C. Spurling, D. Spurling Staff: Davis Guests: No guests Motion 8-22-1 made by Moore and seconded by Karczewski to approve the Minutes of the meeting held on July 27, 2022 with correction of juror’s name to “Maniscalco”. Approved. Received and filed. Treasurer’s Report: Report not available. Visiting Artist Series in Fine Arts Gallery/City Hall Gallery Bosak/Moore/Mang – Gallery: Bosak announced retirement from Commission at end of current Secretary term. Also reported August Gallery artist, Vasu Toila, held over for September. Moore reported on successful reception, with over 100 attendees. $300 worth of books sold. Bosak and P. Valentine to pursue home schooling group for exhibit in either City Hall or Gallery. P. Valentine - City Hall: Nancy Bahr September artist. Fine Arts Exhibition – Karczewski: Duggan or Davis will print off W-9s. Bosak, Moore and Kent to help with take in on Saturday, September 24 from 10-12:00. VanDeven and Moore to help with take down on October 22, 10-12:00. All Commissioners must be at reception on October 14 by 5:45 to help set up the Atrium. Valentines will be greeters, using hand written name tags. Keppen will make one-page programs. Duggan checking to see if Library has round tables and what food will be served. P. Valentine checking on volunteers from Culinary Arts program to serve. Duggan has case of wine. Stamp or wristbands needed to card guests. Davis would like hard end date for entry forms postmark of September 2. Arts Commission Meeting Page 2 August 22, 2022 MFTH – Duggan: Three more concerts. Commissioners urged to attend. Steve King make up concert will be held September 8. Scholarships - C. Spurling: Tabled. School Incentives - P. Valentine: No activity. Grants – Mang: Absent. No report. Facebook - VanDeven: VanDeven waiting for “key” to Facebook to start social media activity. Working with Parks and Rec on requirements. New / Ongoing Business Kids Concerts – C. Spurling: Program over. Home School – Response being handled by P. Valentine and Bosak as noted above. LSO Sponsorship – Davis to check financial report and process. $2000 designated in budget and $1000 in Music from the Heart budget, for total of $3000. City Logos – Davis reported the new Parks and Rec logo will be used for all Arts Commission material at the request of the Mayor. Will require new signage at Gallery and printed material. Corn Roast – Moore: – Being held on September 18. Moore not available to attend. Needs other Commissioner to bring table, chip clips, flyers and tablecloth. No one at meeting signed up. Moore to check with Joyner as to food available. Mustard drawing contest suggested. Motion 8-22-3 made by Moore, seconded by VanDeven to approve $500 to provide hot dogs at the event. Approved. Motion 8-22-4 made by J. Valentine, seconded by Karczewski to adjourn at 7:30. Approved. Zonjic concert May 7. Children’s Concerts 6:30 Tuesdays July 5-August 16. Music from the Heart 7:00 pm Thursdays July 7 – September 1. Shakespeare in the Park: July 29, 30 and 31. Steve King make up concert on September 8.
