HomeMy WebLinkAboutTraffic Commission 2023-03-09 th MINUTES OF THE 798 REGULAR MEETING LIVONIA TRAFFIC COMMISSION thth The 797 Regular meeting of the Livonia Traffic Commission was held in the 5 Floor Gallery of City Hall on Thursday, March 9, 2023; it was called to order by Chairperson Jim Policelli at 7:35 p.m. PRESENT: Jim Policelli, , Rebekah Farabaugh, James Keller, Yara Racine, City Engineer Todd Zilincik and Sgt. Paul Walters of the LPD Traffic Bureau ABSENT: John Katers, Gordon St. John, Tom Wrenbeck VISITORS: Jim Santilli and Chuck Keller, both representatives from the TIA Agenda Item 1: The minutes from the February 8, 2023 meeting were reviewed No corrections were brought forth. Therefore, a motion was made by Commissioner Farabaugh and supported by Commissioner Policelli to approved the February 8, 2023 minutes as written. It was voted upon unanimously that, 20-363 RESOLVED, the minutes from the February 8, 2023 meeting were approved as written Agenda Item 2: Traffic Improvement Association (TIA) Traffic Improvement Association (TIA) representatives Jim Santilli and Chuck Keller presented to the Commission the basic information on their organization and how joining will benefit the city of Livonia. They noted that the Engineering Department, Police Department, and the Commission can utilize their services from data collecting, traffic studies, and educational tools, among other items. A recommendation to the Chief of Police will be forthcoming. Agenda Item 3: Plymouth and Stark Roads It was noted that MDOT is aware of the Commission’s intend to add “No Turn on Red” signage on Stark Road at northbound Plymouth Road. MDOT representatives are assessing the area and will provide feedback soon. Agenda Item 4: Plymouth Road and Milburn Street An email was received by the Mayor’s Office regarding the intersection of Plymouth Road and Milburn Street. The complaint was regarding cars that are often parked on both sides of Milburn, causing traffic congestion and unsafe conditions for traffic. Commissioner Farabaugh noted that she travels that roadway daily to and from her residence and has not observed this issue. She offered to monitor the area and provide an update. Additionally, it was mentioned that previous street images show the street was once lined with “No Parking” signs and that those signs no longer exist. Sgt.
